Bone Dry - FAQs

Check if your surface is porous and therefore OK for Bone Dry.   Test a small area to ascertain if the surface still absorbs water.

• Apply on a cool, dry day when the surface is cool - not in the heat of the day
• Mix one part Bone Dry to 2 parts water in your garden sprayer. (5L treats 100m²)
• Ensure the surface is absolutely clean and dry.
• Apply the product until the surface is wet with Bone Dry®.
• Do not oversaturate or flood the surface.
• Ensure an even coverage is achieved and ensure that the surface is all done at the same time to stop any overlapping of wet product on dry product. 'Over application' may leave a slight sheen on surface. Do not over apply
• Only apply one coat!
• Ensure dilution rate and application are followed exactly.
  
  Exceptionally porous surfaces may need a second coat. Test a small area to ascertain if the surface still absorbs water after allowing Bone Dry to dry for 1 hour. For best results the second coat should be applied between 2 - 4 hours.
  
  Apply to large areas with a garden sprayer or use a brush for clay pots or small items.

Dilute Bone Dry 1 part to 2 parts water for the 5L container. Ensure that the surface is clean. This will treat up to 100m²

You cannot paint the surface after using Bone Dry because the water repellent in the product won’t allow the paint to adhere.

Non treated cane that is porous is fine to treat with Bone Dry. Do a test underneath first to check the finish. Keep in mind that it cannot be painted after the Bone Dry treatment.

Bone Dry can be used on all varieties of sandstone very successfully esp Hinuera and Oamaru stone. It makes the stone impervious to water, but not obvious to the eye.

It is best to do a water test to see if it is still porous. If it is - you can. If it’s not porous, you can’t.

No. It’s designed to penetrate into the porous surface & you won’t know it’s there. All surfaces retain their light, refreshing, dry appearance even when wet.

Wash your sprayer or brushes out with water. If it dries in the nozzle, soak the nozzle in methylated spirits. It is a water soluable product.

Use cotton wool soaked in methylated spirits.

Dilute Bone Dry 2 parts water to 1 part Bone Dry and apply to the clean dry canvas awning, umbrella, dodger or sail cover.

Bone dry is non toxic and therefore more environmentally friendly. It won't harm plants or animals and it cleans up in water. Odourless - no solvents or volatile components.

• You must firstly ensure that your deck has totally been cleaned up (using Wet & Forget or Rapid Application) before you apply Bone Dry. Bone Dry is good for timber because the water just jumps off the surface.
• On timber retaining walls, it stops them going black from biological growth.
• Timber decks also benefit as it slows biological growth and helps prevent staining from spills such as BBQ fat etc.
• External cedar weatherboards can be sealed with Bone Dry and it certainly won't peel like a traditional “film forming” coating e.g. varnish. Only apply one coat of Bone Dry for this application.
• NEW DECKING Just make sure it “weathers” before application as the natural resins in the timber when newly laid will prevent the Bone Dry soaking in. Minimum wait is 3-4 months.

Absolutely!! It stabilizes sand joints between paving stones to prevent paving movement and erosion. It's not slippery when applied to paving stones.

On paving, use 1 part Bone Dry to 1 part water. Flood surface and squeegee excess off the surface and into joints.

It is water based for easy clean up.

It contains a combination of an acrylic emulsion and a silicone resin. The acrylic seals the pores and the silicone repels the water.

Apply Bone Dry from the same garden spray unit as you use for your Wet & Forget

Between 3-5 years. You can always check by pouring some water over the surface. If it gets absorbed in, then you need to reapply. If it repels the water - you are OK.

It slows the biological growth of moss, mould and algae by keeping the porous surface a lot drier. Bone Dry is a unique, water based, polymer dispersion which is designed to help seal concrete paths and paving blocks. When used in conjunction with Wet and Forget for the pre-treatment cleaning process, Bone Dry will seal the pores and stops dirt and water from penetrating the surface thus slowing green algae and black mould from growing back again too quickly.
